Whether you’re starting your own business or writing the next great American novel, you need to hustle in order to make progress on accomplishing goals — whether they be in your personal or professional life.

But if you’re a parent with children, a full-time student, or a corporate employee trying to make your passion a career, juggling time and work can be a bit tricky.

Fortunately, by incorporating a few simple shifts into your life, it is 100% possible to build the life you want without sacrificing your time, education, or current position!

Here are some tips that have made all the difference in my life, and I hope will help you thrive as the determined individual you already are while amping up your hustle!

Accomplishing goals while keeping a balanced lifestyle

1. Gather as much support as possible

The saying goes, “It takes a village“, and this couldn’t be truer when it comes to building a career while balancing everything else you have going on in life.

Think about it — for centuries, humans lived in communities, tribes, and villages. They were surrounded by other families to help watch their children, tend to their crops and animals, and assist with the day-to-day activities when, for example, people were sick. when, for example, they were sick.

Now, in this busy world, we no longer have a built-in support system to always help us in accomplishing goals. But, that doesn’t mean we can’t create one!

Ask yourself: Who in your life can you develop a mutually supportive relationship with? Is there a way you and a friend, family member, or neighbor can help one another to create “me time” for the both of you? Can you and your spouse take turns with certain errands like picking your kids up from school so that you have a few spare minutes in the day?

Sometimes we feel like we need to do everything ourselves, but we don’t. Sometimes we literally can’t! And, that’s okay. It’s just important that we take time to develop a system that works.

2. Take advantage of the “in-between” moments

When you start dreaming of something amazing for yourself, it’s normal to want to go all-in at once and create success as soon as possible.

It is great that you’re feeling motivated and pumped up, but remember you don’t have to change the world tomorrow!

Start small and tackle things that you can work on during brief “in-between” moments.

For example, when you’re waiting in line at the post office, while you’re on the train, or even while you’re waiting for the water to boil! You can complete bite-sized action items like responding to emails, planning a social post, or brainstorming unique content during those few minutes.

Taking advantage of these moments will prevent you from feeling like you’re behind on your personal goals since every step you take — no matter how small — is bringing you closer to accomplishing goals.

If you only have the weekends, make sure you take advantage of all those moments to work on the small things. They will add up, trust me!

3. Create time in the morning or at night

Now, okay, I know that this might sound like the last thing you want to do. We just got done talking about how busy you are, and now we are asking you to add more time to your schedule! However, if you are really passionate about making your dreams a reality, you might have to get creative in making time for the hustle.

If you have a lot of projects going on, you might want to consider getting up early (before your kids, pets, or spouse does) so you have that time to work on accomplishing goals. Or, try to stay up a little later after you put them to bed!

Again, it’s all about finding those little pockets of time. It doesn’t need to be a couple hours, either! Any time that you can spare, you can work towards your dreams.

4. Cleanse your life of anything that doesn’t contribute to your success

There’s no time like the present to let go of the things that don’t help your hustle.

Here’s the thing — if something isn’t getting you closer to accomplishing goals in your life, it’s taking you further away.

Think about everything you do in your day-to-day life and narrow down what things are leading you towards your goals…. And which things aren’t.

For example, are you spending your mornings taking care of yourself through exercise, a nutritious meal, and journaling, or are you finding yourself getting lost in your phone and comparing your progress to others’?

Are you surrounding yourself with people who see what you are trying to accomplish and support your goals, or are you letting toxic relationships hold you back?

The answers to these questions are important, and you need to make sure you’re prioritizing the things that make you feel good!

5. When you’re present, be present

We celebrate the grind and we talk about how important it is to hustle to reach your goals, but we also want to make sure you understand how vital your time is to the people who care about you.

As hard as it may be, you need to be able to separate your work life from your personal life as much as you can.

That means being present with where you are and who you are with. You might feel like you can’t take a day off, but trying to be in two places at once will only lead to some major burn-out, as well as some damaged relationships.

Let the time you have with your family and friends be motivation for working hard and finding success, but don’t let it be a stressor that you take for granted. You will definitely regret it later!

Schedule time to see the people in your life that you care about and let that be your time to catch up and refuel yourself spiritually. Work and your passion for accomplishing goals will still be there when you’re done!

Accomplishing goals does not need to be a someday dream

The truth is that life is busy! It doesn’t matter if you’re a parent, or an employee, or a student, or just a busy person in general.

The key is to focus your daily tasks on things that matter (including quality time with the ones you care about and taking care of your mind, body, and spirit)

Your success lies in being able to take advantage of all the moments you have to chip away at your dreams little by little. It’s the little things that are the big things, after all.
