Zak has proven himself as an effective leader, both in the military and as a civilian. Zak spent over 4 years in the Army overseas where he was a convoy commander in Iraq and was responsible for making life or death decisions under extremely high stress.
Zak has been an entrepreneur from a very young age and has sold over $100 million in products, in the nutrition and health industry.
He was the Chief Marketing Officer at Bulletproof, Inc. (makers of Bulletproof® Coffee) and is a co-owner of the successful international brand. While Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) at Bulletproof, Zak was responsible for branding, digital marketing, content marketing, web development, advertising, events and experiential marketing, customer service, public relations, strategic marketing partnerships, recruiting/hiring, and team culture.
While at Bulletproof, Zak grew podcast their podcast listeners by 15x (resulting in a #1 ranking in iTunes health category), their customer list by 15x, employees by 20x, the marketing department (which he was in charge of) by 40x, and strategically executed a book launch that landed The Bulletproof Diet on the New York Times Bestseller list.
Zak is a combat veteran with many awards and commendations, including a Bronze Star and a Combat Action Badge. Most proudly, he is a husband and a father. He lives with his wife, Cynthia, and their two children in Los Angeles, CA and Portland, OR. Zak enjoys his spare time flying high as a helicopter pilot and composing music.
