Take it away Logan!
MEET ITN STUDENT, LOGAN CIGRANG!
Hello all! My name is Logan Cigrang, a 24-year-old from Los Angeles, CA. And I’m super excited to be able to share my story with all of you!
I have had an incredible journey through my lifestyle transformation and have lost a total of 100 pounds!! My dream is to help others through my experiences and life lessons!
My story really begins back in high school. I had started focusing more on my friends and having fun, rather than school and my studies. Shocker, right?
TOUGH HIGH SCHOOL DAYS
I let it get the best of me. I completely stopped caring about school, started skipping classes, and got into bad crowds. I bounced from high school to high school over the years.
At the end of 11th grade, I found myself partying in my friend’s backyard every day. After making some bad life choices, I ended up getting arrested for stealing.
I went to juvenile hall and then a military-style probation camp. While in the probation camp, I thrived off the structure. I ended up being the top kid in there in multiple ways — schooling, jobs, sports, you name it.
I participated in a little roughhousing with some guys in the field. I tackled a guy, and we both landed on my head with our bodies using my neck as a spring.
After x-rays, cat scans, and MRI’s, the doctors finally learned that I had a compression fracture going down my C-3, C-4, and C-5 vertebrae.
I had broken my neck! After getting a Halo Apparatus installed onto my body, I was sent home.
THE DOWNWARD SPIRAL CONTINUES
This is where my early stages of depression set in, and I eventually started gaining a lot of weight. Over the next couple of years, I had moved away from home, gotten a girlfriend, and felt like I started living a normal life.
You see, I had these holed indentations left over from the halo apparatus on my head, and this left me extremely self-conscious about how people looked at me.
Long story short, I ended up getting a settlement check from the county for a very hefty amount of money — the kind of money that could change somebody’s life.
That’s exactly what the money did and in the worst way for me. I blew through all that money within a year or two. I ruined my relationships, my mental health, my credit, and what felt like everything.
I had continued to gain weight during all of this. I gained a total of 100 pounds since breaking my neck. I was sitting at 285 pounds, which was the heaviest I have ever been.
“THE WEEK”
“The Week” consisted of three consecutive days of loss for me.
- Day 1: My longterm girlfriend broke up with me and broke my heart.
- Day 2: I found out one of my jobs had plans of laying me off. With this news, I confronted them and ended up quitting while I was getting fired.
- Day 3: My parents got evicted out of their house after living there for over 20 years — this is where I had been living.
So, within three days, I lost love, financial security, and shelter. It was scary, hard, emotional, and brought depressing times.
I moved to Hollywood in light of all this so I could be close to my other job, which felt like the only thing I had left in life.
Over my first year living in L.A., I dealt with deep depression. I was missing my old life in every way.
One day, I overdid it. I drank too much and the next day had a severe panic attack, which left me eager to change my ways.
After that experience, I started to take better care of myself. I was eating a little better, not drinking or doing drugs as much, and felt like I had a clearer head.
TIME FOR CHANGE
One day, I gained the confidence to audition for a job I had wanted for years — a position on the La Kings Ice Crew under the La Kings Organization.
It was a very sought-after position. I never thought, in a million years, that I would make the team. Let alone passed the first round of cuts, or the first day! I ended up making the team!
I had put myself out there and gotten myself my dream job! I am a hockey guy and a die-hard Kings fan. Having this “win” gave me so much confidence.
THE BIG OPPORTUNITY
I was then given an opportunity to audition for a Reality TV Fitness Lifestyle Transformation program. With my new-found confidence I auditioned, and well, I got that too!
They understood my story and wanted to help me move forward. This was the most incredible experience I have ever had!!
After three months in the program I lost 30 pounds and went from 225 pounds down to 195. I finished a few weeks ago (as of early February 2018) and am now down to 186 pounds!
I am 1 pound away from my 100-pound mark — the most incredible feeling ever!
Being a part of this program was a full lifestyle transformation! I loved every part of the show!
Cynthia Pasquella-Garcia (Founder of ITN) was my nutritionist on the show. I loved our conversations, and she made me finally interested in my health.
THE INSTITUTE OF TRANSFORMATIONAL NUTRITION
Cynthia so generously enrolled me as a student at ITN, so I could continue learning! ITN and becoming a Certified Transformational Nutrition Coach has become everything to me.
After all that I’ve been through, I feel I’ve been given a fresh start in my life, and I know that ITN is going to give me the tools to help others do the same!
