My life can get a little hectic, can you relate?
There are times when I feel like I have enough stress to fill an entire room, plus a little extra to go around the block.
It doesn’t come as a surprise when I have my little girl to take care of, a family, a business, and a million other things that seem to pop up left and right. How familiar does THAT sound?
I can usually keep my energy levels up when the going gets off-the-wall crazy, but sometimes, it’s nice to have a little help. I’ve figured out a super cool, energy-boosting secret that I am going to share with you right now!
This technique will help you lower your stress levels and increase your energy levels immediately.
No joke, here’s the scoop.
“Reverse Breathing” or “Taoist Breathing” as it’s also known, is meant to center and calm the mind while drawing energy deep into the tissues and bones.
It’s called “Reverse Breathing” because instead of breathing in through your nose and out through your mouth, you’ll be doing just the opposite!
REVERSE BREATHING IN 6 SIMPLE STEPS
- Breathe in deeply through your mouth, counting to five.
- Hold your breath for one count.
- Exhale through your nose, counting to five.
- Pause for two counts.
- Repeat.
- Continue for at least seven breaths, in and out.
Bonus Tip: Do not practice for longer than 3 minutes.
REMEMBER TO ELIMINATE DISTRACTIONS
The only thing you’ll be focusing on is your breathing. If thoughts drift into your mind, be aware of them and then let them pass on by. Some people close their eyes as this helps to close out any distractions around them.
The stomach will contract as you breathe in, and expand as you breathe out. As the name implies, it is the reverse of the “normal” breathing pattern.
Use this method anytime you need some extra energy or when you’re feeling stressed or anxious. It only takes a few minutes out of your day but can give back so much more.
