3 Ways To Prevent Procrastination

3 Ways To Prevent Procrastination

When I first started my coaching business, I dealt with a lot of self-doubt!

This self-doubt landed me in what I call (and what you may be experiencing), “The Procrastination Station.”

I worried that I might not be good enough or I may not know enough to move forward as a coach.

I was trying to multitask, distractions kept getting in my way, and I was getting absolutely nothing done. Nope, nada!

Have you ever been stuck at “The Procrastination Station”?

If you have, it’s totally normal! I’m here to help you get out of this state and get to a place that will fill you up and allow your business to thrive!

As a Health Coach, getting focused and being present is the key to moving forward and getting out of procrastination. I like to say, be persistent and consistent every day. Plan ahead and reap the benefits!

First and foremost, it’s time to admit that you haven’t started because you feel unsure or distracted.

Once you admit you may be afraid, you can stop waiting, and you can start taking action and finally begin coaching.

Let’s define and conquer these steps so you can take action and get yourself out of that annoying procrastination station!

3 WAYS TO PREVENT PROCRASTINATION

1. PERFECTION IS POISON!

Let’s be real — perfection means something different to everyone. Instead of trying to be perfect, be the most authentic version of yourself. People want to to know the real you, so let them get to know you!

The good news is the more coaching you do, the more comfortable you’ll become, and from there, you’ll get into your coaching flow.

Don’t forget that you have all the knowledge you need as a CTNC! (If you’re not an ITN grad, you should definitely consider becoming one!) It’s not about perfection — it’s about taking action!

Start creating your offer or your program and taking clients! Get out there because there are people out there who desperately need what you have to offer.

Work on your business when your mind is sharp and be intentional! Done is better than perfect, don’t overthink it.

Visualize the end result and get started already!

2. BEING SCARED IS OK!

Let fear become your friend and your motivator. Sorry to inform you but fear will continue to show up — it’s part of life.

Make it useful and allow fear to help you learn and grow! Let it pull you forward, knowing that you are here to make a difference in the lives of others.

Don’t be afraid of what others think. Keep developing your coaching skills because you have gifts that no one else has, and others need you.

Take small daily steps! Maybe one day you write an article and the next day you create a video. What’s most important is that you get moving.

You may have new, incredible ideas that pop up throughout your day. It’s helpful to keep a journal to record any ideas that come up for your clients and coaching business.

Define what your contribution will be as a coach. Being messy and scared is okay!

It may feel uncomfortable but feel the fear, and do it anyway. There are people out there waiting for you.

3. GET RID OF DISTRACTIONS

We all have the same amount of time; 1440 minutes in a single day.

Figure out where you ’re wasting your time. By doing this, you’ll be able to manage your distractions and better manage your time.

Here are some tips to help minimize your time:

  • Silence the dings, pings, distractions and all those reminders that pop up on your computer and phone.
  • Inform people around you, who may distract you, that you’ll be busy during a specific time.
  • Stop checking in on everyone else’s life and take time to sense your own presence and your life’s purpose as a coach.
  • Step up a schedule in your calendar. I love to use The High Performance Planner.
  • Tell a few people about what you plan to do in your business and ask them to hold you accountable.

With a set schedule and a dash of discipline, you’ll actually start to get things done in a timely fashion. (Don’t just take my word for it! Try it for yourself!)

Can you see yourself now? You and your business without the side of procrastination? Isn’t it beautiful?

Can you see yourself finally making progress in your business? Oh, how good it’ll feel to be purposeful with your time and tasks.

By implementing these simple steps, you’ll be able to create the successful coaching business you know you’re capable of!
